FAPESP – Quantify the real effects of deforestation and of agricultural activities in the planet’s average temperature is the main result of a study conducted by researchers from Brazil and the United States and published in the March issue of the journal Nature Climate Change. The more accurate knowledge of the impact of terrestrial climate has become possible now because the researchers included in the calculations two phenomena that used to be left out: evapotranspiration (water loss through evaporation and plant transpiration) and absorption of solar energy by vegetation.
