I have a tendency, when I get a new CD, to play it over and over until I get to the point that I’m hearing the music in my head and then realizing 10 minutes later that there is no music actually playing. The CD on repeat now is “David Byrne and Caetano Veloso: Live at Carnegie Hall”.
Caetano had a run at Carnegie Hall back in 2004 and invited his friend David to join him at a few shows. Its an acoustic set featuring Caetano Veloso and David Byrne on vocals, two guitars, one cello, and one percussionist. They play songs from both musicians’ repertoires; David Byrne’s smart and lyrical funk-pop and Caetano Veloso, known for the tropicalismo movement in 60’s Brazil, singing soft and sweet over Brazilian folk rhythms.
