This brief TED talk by George Smoot, the physicist who provided the first maps of the early universe and background radiation left over from the big bang, is worth watching just for the absolutely amazing simulations of the structure of the universe.
From the TED website:
“At Serious Play 2008, astrophysicist George Smoot shows stunning new images from deep-space surveys, and prods us to ponder how the cosmos — with its giant webs of dark matter and mysterious gaping voids — got built this way.”
