This project was a live brief from a stationary company in Manchester called “Fred Aldous”. They wanted a new font for their products and in-store signage. We went to their archive and looked at the fonts used throughout their advertising history and let loose on designing a new font for them. I chose to look at calligraphy and script style fonts and develop a similar style font by hand. This lead to some complications when digitalising it and the font never made it to fontlab, not that I would know how to do that anyway! So, yeah, this was my first attempt at a font and lead to me experiencing a new, more labour intensive style of working. I ended up doing for different iterations to my font to get a final I was happy with. Hope you like.
