This was a quick experiment that happened when in the studio. I shot a portrait in the studio set up with studio lighting and DSLR. This was the result.

When i was editing, I applied a simple filter. I was happy with the results.

Then I shot a quick shot using Instagram without any lighting. The results of which are below.

I put time into the set up in the studio, with a result that can’t be argued quality wise of the photograph itself. One result I got from doing this comparison was that Instgram will never match the quality of what other Digital Devices such as DSLR’s have.

However, another argument I started with myself then was, well, which one is actually really more honest? Documentary wise, the second Photograph would win. She isn’t posed, she is natural, laughing at something said in the background. That would make the…
