Same Place Different Signs

In Salvador, Brazil.

One of the things one often sees in places outside the U.S. is the street sign posted on the side of a building, as opposed to a pole. The building-affixed signs add a crafty artfulness that the average American street pole signs can’t touch.

The juxtaposition of the old, rusting steel sign beneath the crisp and clean ceramic tile one sets up quite dramatically, especially against the bright colors of the wall and arched door.

This is Brazil. In an alley in Salvador. An old place with some grittiness topped by a natural kind of beauty.
