The sun is shining and the weekend is upon us once again, so get yourself to Manchester for a weekend of fun and frolics. Here’s our top 3 suggestions for what to get up to, plus some bonus suggestions from our Twitter and Facebook friends.

  • It’s the opening weekend of Manchester International Festival and the city is buzzing with festival fever. Head down to the festival hub at Albert Square where you can soak up the atmosphere, lounge in deck chairs and listen to the free outdoor sounds, from brass bands to world music on the new outdoor stage. Food and drink are also available throughout the day.
  • The extremely popular National Football Museum celebrates its 1st Birthday tomorrow with a host of great family-friendly events, including some very big referees keeping everyone in line. There will also be a performance by the Manchester United Community Choir in the afternoon.
