Before some of you get all excited, this is not a film review of the critically acclaimed The History Boys. However, the West End play-come- film is intimately linked with this particular edition of TFP.
Societies reproduce themselves and inform the culture of future generations by passing on knowledge. The message embedded in The History Boys is that knowledge serves no purpose, unless it is spoken into reality.
This is the exact approach of a certain Charles Miller, returning to Brazil with a ball tucked under his arm at the age of 21. Miller had been sent across the Atlantic to be educated as a lawyer.
