Dig The City is a spectacular event happening until the 11^th August throughout Manchester City Center, and what an event it is! Seas of flowers, the most amazing balloon sculptures you will ever see, events and inspiration, put it at the top of your to do list this week.

Yesterday I ventured away from the cobbles of Didsbury, and had a lovely, lovely afternoon pottering around town, smelling the flowers, eating ice cream, while listening to some folk music and learning lots from a Question and Answer session with gardening extraordinaire Monty Don (here’s Monty answering my question “I don’t have a spade or a trowel to plant my flowers, can I use a spoon?’ he replied ‘Yes Laura, excellent idea, it will work in exactly the same way, clever cat. Although, if you are planning on becoming a serious gardener, you really should invest in some proper tools”)…
