This latest blog post is all about the newly created views out from the Whitworth and the greater sense of connection and visibility that MUMA’s designs are bringing to the Gallery spaces. On most of my previous visits on site, I have been looking inwards from behind barriers and scaffolding, but on Friday of last week, my site visit took me inside some of our new spaces – the main photo being from within the Study Centre and looking out through a huge window aperture across the Art Garden and the Lower Promenade towards the Collection Access Area (of course in the future beautifully landscaped rather than full of construction kit!).
Other images include skylights bringing daylight into our three new barrel vaulted exhibition galleries, windows from meeting rooms looking down onto the Orchard near Denmark Road, and a surprising narrow opening off the new Grand Staircase at the north…
