Over the weekend of the 4th, 5th & 6th October FlipSide will offer a plethora of stimulating literary events, new writing, music, art, children’s events, capoeira and street food as part of a unique new Brazilian festival at the home of Aldeburgh Music, Snape Maltings on the Suffolk Coast. Literary giants from both Brazil and the UK will be there including Milton Hatoum, Patricia Melo, Bernardo Carvalho, Ian McEwan, Ali Smith and Will Self, but in order to avoid rumbling stomachs hampering concentration or enjoyment, audiences can satisfy their whetted appetites for Brazilian culture by sampling some delicious, and carnivalesque, cuisines.
A bespoke menu is being produced for the weekend by the concert hall caterers with both meat-filled and vegetarian versions of the toothsomely satisfying feijoada bean-and-meat stew and wonderful wines sourced directly from producers situated in the lush, rolling hills of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil’s most southerly state)…
