As it’s positively biblical outside at the moment, with floods, snow and locusts all across the country, I thought I’d post some images from summer 2013 – and, in particular, from one of the hottest days I can remember.

We paid a visit to the Biospheric Project in Salford as part of Manchester International Festival 2013, and it was an inspiring experience. I’m not going to try to explain what they do there – MIF13 describes it as follows:

“Brilliantly ambitious, The Biospheric Project aims at nothing less than a total change in the way we think about food, farming and the environment.”

If you’re interested in becoming more self-sufficient, or simply wish to grow a little of your own food, I seriously advise taking a trip down there. It’s also worth popping in to 78 Steps – a wholefoods shop situated exactly 78 steps away from the Biospheric Project, where…
