Carnaval is serious business in Brazil and especially in Rio. This is no doubt the first of many posts about the world famous festivities! The fact that this year, shrove tuesday is on the 4th of March (i.e. later than the usual February date) caused some readjustments… As new year really only starts after carnaval, the carioca party season was extended to the whole of February.
