Visiting a Brazilian Metropolis? Use the Metrô.

If you are planning to visit  a metropolis such as São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, it would be worthwhile to familiarize yourself with the city’s metro and train system.

Since I started teaching English last month I began taking the metro (metrô) and train (trem) system into and around “The Capital” of São Paulo to reach my clients.

Note that in the post below I will sometimes use the terms “metro” and “train” interchangeably even though they are technically two different types of transport networks.

THE BASICS

If you have never taken the subway or metro before, there are a few basics you should be aware of.

  1. Carry cash to pay for the ticket. It is faster and easier to buy the ticket using cash instead of a credit card.
