Raving in Rio

Well what can you say? Rio is a crazy town which needs no excuse to party and drink at the best of times, so when carnival is on it just intensifies the action and turns the heat up even further. We arranged to “do” carnival with some folk in a networking group which Simon is a member of. We turned out to be the only Brits, our other carnival goers were from USA, Canada, Australia a couple from Portugal, France and the remainder either Brazilian or from Jordan. The carnival parade in Rio is always done at the purpose-built Sambodrome where Samba schools parade down the main avenue (around half a mile long) in front of 120,000 people, but that doesn’t also stop tons of street parties popping up everywhere, with industrious locals renting a polystyrene ice cooler and setting up a beer stall.
