French street artist JR’s work of Women Are Heroes truly captured my full attention and interest when seeing his work at lecture. JR pasted huge photos of the faces and eyes of local women all over the villages on massive canvases. His project consisted of many images of little words but had a lot of expression.
Women Are Heroes takes place all over the world: Africa, Cambodia, Brazil, India and has even stretched to London. The whole community and a lot of people got involved in his project, it was very much a participatory project. The energy within the project was amazing, as well as the impact it had. He placed the pieces of work on top of the roofs which looked great, but in fact it also meant it would help keep them sheltered and improve the roof of their homes.
