My body was undergoing a series of mixed feelings and emotions on the flight to Rio, there was great exitement and added to that apprehension. My sojourn to Brazil for the Carnaval (carnival) a trip I have been looking forward to for the past four years especially after watching footages of the World famous Rio Carnaval on television – all the colour, energy, dance, music, mayhem and revelry…yes that was the reason for excitement and fear crept in as a lot of friends tryed to dissuade me from going to Rio because of the rise in crime. Stories like people would drug me and steal my kidney and leave me stranded on the streets of Rio. This apprehension got a little stronger after watching the movie “Touristas” on my trip to New York last year…
