Anti trafficking organisation, The A21 Campaign, has started a movement called ‘It’s A Penalty’ in a bid to curb sex trafficking during the FIFA World Cup in Brazil this year.

It’s A Penalty‘ aims to raise awareness amongst Soccer fans travelling to the world cup about the seriousness of sex trafficking and child abuse.

The world Cup is expected to attract at least 600,00 foreign tourists to the country, and as a result an increased demand in the commercial sex industry is inevitable.

Street children in Brazil are particularly vulnerable to sex trafficking, and Brazilian girls as young as 11 are expected to be groomed for prostitution and offered to tourists during the Football tournament.

The campaign’s message is that anyone caught engaging in the sexual exploitation of children aged 17 years and under will face prosecution in Brazil, as well as their home country.
