A “super bacteria” has recently been found in the waters of where the sailing events will take place for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Several news officials have already warned the Olympic managers of the potential threat the bacteria can cause towards the Olympians. Brian Foster, head of the Olympic committee said, “We understand the importance of keeping everyone safe during the events, so we will do our best to contain the bacteria and minimize it as quickly as possible.” Since 70% of the sewage in a city of 12 million people is going into the ocean without treatment, it is a perfect place for bacteria to grow and thrive. Water quality tests show a very high level of waste in the water, making it unfit for anyone to swim in it.
