Salvador & Morro de São Paulo

So after a 17 hour bus ride from Recife, in the only seat that didn´t recline (!), I finally arrived in Pelourinho, Salvador!

My first hostel wasn´t so great…I saw 3 other people briefly  but apart from that the place was empty! After a tough conversation with the Owner (when he wasn´t on one of his disappearing acts!) I finally managed to get my money back and moved the next day to the popular Galeria 13 Hostel.

Within 30 minutes of arriving at Galeria I was off down the beach with new friends, and that evening we enjoyed the ´free caipirinha happy hour´(does this hostel get any better?!) and then live music at a rooftop bar.

Salvador was very cool, with beautiful churches, a festival where you celebrate the queen of the ocean by throwing flowers into the sea, a massive elevator to take you to the lower part of…
