Hundreds of thousands of bodies create a sea of Brazilian sweat, alcohol, fantasies (costumes)… and urine.  Lots of urine.

For my friends back in the US: Carnaval is a cross between Halloween, a week long EDM festival, Labor day weekend and Cinco de Mayo smashed in to one event.  Kind of.  Except the majority of the music you hear is traditional Samba music instead of pop.  Imagine now that every single song that comes on is your favorite song and everyone in the crowd knows all the lyrics so they sing along with you.  Because Samba is their traditional music, all of these songs have been around for many years.  As a result, it seems like everyone knows all the words to every song.   Just about everyone dresses up in some sort of outfit.  These outfits are called fantasies (or Fantasias in Portuguese).  Some people put a lot of…
