The little man of Picadilly

Yesterday I was doing some city centre film photography, when out of a curry shop in the northern quarter came this man shouting “have you seen the little men of Piccadilly.” Apart from being freaked out I was extremely curious so followed this man. On the roof of 79 Piccadilly he pointed out two men with straw hats soaking in the Manchester sun. Taken by these little characters I googled into it. Built in 1887 the architects of this building were Clegg and Knowles, architects who specialised in grand ware houses, admired by the tourists whom came to visit the tall grand warehouses of Manchester during the industrial revolution. These alpine looking little men are very controversial in the centre of big grey factories and a revolution, perhaps it is meant to show the radical change in direction of the modern world? Maybe the owners of the building where Austrian?…
