Las Fallas

From the 17th-21st March me, Anna and Sam headed to Valencia for Las Fallas, this festival takes place in commemoration of Saint Joseph and several festivities take place over several days leading up to the 19th March, with huge crowds gathering on the final day to witness the parades, fireworks and burning of the amazing statues. We spent the first day exploring the centre and looking at the different statues that were on every street, in the main square stood a gigantic lion which was almost as tall as the buildings and you could see why this was the main attraction!! It was amazing that they were going to burn down all these amazing statues that had taken a year to build, every day at 2pm firecrackers were set off in Plaza del Ayuntamiento this was called la Mascleta and was extremely noisy and left the square covered in smoke and the ground shaking…
