NOVEMBER 2007: Burundian warriors

It wasn’t me who made these drummers jump. This jump was part of the act of these world famous Burundian warriors. They were giving a thrilling percussion session, as part of the Zumbi Parade in Belo Horizonte in November 2007. They jumped quite high while beating the drum. Most bystanders were amazed by the percussionists’ muscular arms. Only a few months later, some members of this percussionist group suddenly disappeared, when they had a show in the Netherlands. This picture has become one of my favorites, because of the movements registered.
