The Ancoats Canal Project: good practices, good results

In general, people tend to focus on the negative things. However, good examples work well if it comes to the litter issue in the city. One of them is the Ancoats Canal Project which is working in partnership with the Canal and River Trust and the Ancoats Residents Forum. The first thing that catches the eye is that the area of the Rochdale and Ashton canals that run through Ancoats is quite clean and smart. How is it possible in Manchester littered with a lot of rubbish?

There is no litter there. Moreover, there are no anti-litter signs or aggressive slogans in the area….

The ingenious is always simple. The project pays a  lot of attention to encourage people to participate in the management of the neighbourhood. Every last Sunday each month they hold cleanup events which include: weeding and planting, wash wall cleaning, bird house installs. All the volunteers…
