christina wilson sweet nothings
last chance to see the wonderful photographs by shirley baker – they document the urban clearance programme of inner city manchester and salford during the 60’s and 70’s – the loss of street community life and the re housing in high rise blocks and estates. its very nostalgic for me to see the streets of manchester with their derelict buildings, young kids playing on wasteland – we really did live on the streets. photographers gallery until 20th September.
here i am on the streets of manchester around 1964 with family and local kids – love that nobody is in trainers and tracksuits!
