One of the first things I had the chance to experience about the vivid culture of Valencia was Las Fallas.
This festival starts in the end of February and ends on 19th March. While it’s basically about statues and fire (which I will cover in another post), there are a lot of things happening in the city during this period.
This year at the opening ceremony I was lucky enough to be part of a historical moment when the expression “el caloret” was born. It’s normal in Las Fallas that people express their view on current political issues, but after this it was unavoidable and even stronger opinions came to the surface.
Through the weeks there were costume festivals, local dance performances, marching bands could appear anytime anywhere.
