You can find traditional samba, fancy samba, seasonal samba, weekly samba, free samba, expensive samba, samba at night, during the day… There is samba and more samba in the Cidade Maravilhosa.
In addition to the Samba da Ouvidor (mentioned in another post), there is another samba on the list of Cariocas’ favorite: the Samba do Trabalhador (or Worker’s Samba). As the Ouvidor one, it is also free and highly traditional.
