The scene in the market looks like a painting, each vegetable and fruit washed clean and placed just so. Palettes of garlic cloves mix with an unending size and color of hot peppers swirled on table tops. Clear bags tipped forward filled with dotted beans, lentils, rich dark beans that make my daily diet, dried peas and beans of every size, color and shape imaginable. Rows of bags, tops rolled open at artistic angles offer coarse to fine powders, flours, and grains of roots, corn, and foods that I do not know. And bananas pointing fingers of flavor to a God of abundance. What could God have been thinking to have made so many kinds of bananas?

Green vegetables, yellow squash, ruby red fruits that are shaped liked tomatoes and wonderfully flavorful lined rows of tables covered from the sun by tents flapping in the early morning breeze. Fish so…
