In a line on a railing
in Manchester’s chill
a long row of gulls
sat perfectly still
It was almost as if
they were posing for me
as they rested a while
inland from the sea
So I took a few pictures
as they didn’t mind
with Blackfriars Bridge
on the Irwell behind
