Manchester’s Northern Quarter revives roots

Manchester’s Northern Quarter is said to be reviving the roots of the 90’s through its vintage clothing scene.

The streets in the area are littered with a range of independent vintage clothing shops, which have helped to rejuvenate the rich history of Mancunian indie bands such as The Stone Roses, Joy Division and Oasis, who set fashion trends in the city during the 1990’s.

Vintage Inspired

The Northern Quarter’s distinctively alternative nature and urban atmosphere has created a suburban paradise, fostering a perfect setting in which vintage stores can thrive.

Oi Polloi, a popular independent shop, lies in the heart of the area. They described how, “a lot of the products we sell are vintage inspired.”

The store features a range of 90’s inspired footwear, including the Adidas Superstars, made famous by The Stone Roses vocalist Ian Brown.
