I have come to the conclusion that Ponta Grossa is a city that you must visit for the sheer pleasure of the nature surrounding this city.
The signature park in the area is a state park by the name of Vila Velha. The park is divided into two sections, even for ticketing purposes. I was able to take a city bus the twenty km to the park for the standard fare of about one USD.
One section is called “Sandstones”, rock formations sculpted by rainfall. The formations are of an average height twenty meters, about sixty-five feet. This area of the park is described as portraying a medieval city, with castles and towers among the ruins.
