Music says a lot about a country’s culture and it can be very different to outsider’s ears. Brazil, being a extremely large country, has a range of different melodies, rhythms and music styles. Brazilians hear a lot of “gringa” music – a nice slang to talk about foreigners, but our radio mostly plays national music.

The most heard type of music is “sertanejo”, which is similar to American country with a hint of pop music. 58% of Brazilian people listen to sertanejo at least once a week. If you ever go there, you would frequently listen to this style on the radio and for sure, you would end up dancing it in a club.
