All Grown Up! Laranjinha and Acerola are back in the Brazilian Series, City of Men

If you haven’t seen the series, City of Men, or it’s been awhile since your last watch, you might want to binge the show because the series will return to television screens in early 2017! The show will continue to follow best friends, Laranjinha and Acerola  as they venture through adulthood.

The Brazilian series was developed by Kátia Lund and Fernando Meirelles; the same team behind the critically acclaimed 2002 film, City of God. The series followed teenagers Acerola (Douglas Silva) and Laranjinha (Darlan Cunha) through their day to day life in the slums of Rio de Janeiro. With episodes surrounding gang wars, drugs, and police brutality, the show rang similar to City of God but through the eyes of teenagers came a lighter tone with episode about young romance, partying, and friendship. After the finale, the 2007 film by the same name was released. It followed Laranjinha through his journey to find and then build a relationship with his estranged father…
