Reports are saying it was like a real life version of the movie “The Purge” this past weekend in the state of Espírito Santo in south-east Brazil, as military police went on strike to rally for higher wages.  This is happening in 30 cities across Brazil.  There have been reports of looting, rape, and murder; the worst allegedly coming from Espirato Santo.

The Daily Mail reported there has been 52 murders in the 3-day strike, bringing the murder rate up 650%.

Schools have been cancelled and people are refusing to leave their homes in concern for their safety.

The government says the strike is illegal and will sue.

Business Insider reported that troops have been sent to deal with the violence.

The video below, from this weekend, shows a group of people running away after multiple shots are heard from nearby.
