Everyone’s talking about Manchester today. Or at least The Guardian is, with this list of the best books about the city.And the Bookseller is, with the news that Manchester has the most self-published authors per capita in the UK.

The latest UK top 10 is here, with a book about the making of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Mary Berry Everyday in first and second positions respectively.

Do two unpublished novels make you a failed author, as one writer seems to think? Arguably, no, says another, but quitting does.
