I had been told that The Laundrette was an old laundrette that had been converted into a restaurant, and I was mildly disappointed when I found out that this was not, in fact, the case. The interior design was very sleek and trendy, and they offered a rather exhaustive list of cocktails and other ethanol-based beverages; it was much more like something I would expect to find tucked away somewhere in Soho rather than between a number of old Mancunian factories. Despite the modern decorative style, the restaurant proved its commitment to the authentic methods of pizza preparation simply by having a pizza oven – a feature that has been known to draw me almost magnetically towards a restaurant from a distance of 250 metres.
