As a birthday treat my boyfriend recently treated me to a nights stay at The Principal, in Manchester, and a meal at their restaurant The Refuge. Although we only live a short drive from the city centre, Manchester has some amazing places to stay & I love the idea of still enjoying that, even though were local.

The Principal, which used to be know as The Palace hotel, underwent a huge renovation and has become one of the most beautiful hotels that Manchester has on offer.

When you arrive at the hotel, you will  be blown away by the glass domed roof and stunning foyer.

Inset into the marble floors, are brass tiles which are all designed to show something which relates to the history of the building or Mancunian style.

Not only were the reception staff really friendly and welcoming, once they knew we were staying for my birthday, they kindly upgraded…
