The war on graffiti in Oakland, CA is over and graffiti won. While city officials have considered graffiti an ugly addition to urban blight, they have succumbed to the onslaught of heavily covered walls particularly in West Oakland–a neighborhood associated with high crime and violence. But due in large part to the Community Rejuvenation Project graffiti and streetart is flourishing — bringing color and life, raising pride in the community and its residents.
