I have one best friend, and another very good friend, both of whom I can trust 100%, and who will never let me down (Beside my husband, of course!), and then 4 good friends. As two of them are a lot younger than me, I am very fine off, I think. I consider myself blessed. The rest comes and goes.

I too have a handful of close friends and family but an enormous cloud of acquaintances from years of running a Samba School. I would still say the Dunbar number is about accurate (I interact with not much more than 180 of them, but mostly with the handful)!

When I was still working, I had a larger circle as well, but I never got to 180 … 😉 … I am obviously not that social … 😉 … but I am always open for new people. People from Facebook or the blogs, I would not call friends though, unless I meet them and become friends, that happened. But I can increase the number of 100% reliable friends by one. 😉 😀 I forgot one, good that she doesn’t know! 😉

2…. yourself first and then another to remind you that you’re not alone and to straighten you out when you get off coarse.
