In the early days of quantum mechanics, Werner Heisenberg wondered if there is a fundamental limit to how well one can resolve structures with a microscope. He went on to formulate a thought experiment which is now known as “Heisenberg’s Microscope.” In this video I explain how Heisenberg came to think about this, what he concluded, and what physicists learned from this.
