Why Ghibli Succeeds Where Disney Fails

Disney films offer great morals and lessons for kids. But there’s one place they fall short: showing what a kind world would look like. That’s where Studio Ghibli & the Hayao Miyazaki masterpiece ‘Kiki’s Delivery Service’ can show us how it’s done.

  1. I think it is true what is being said about Western children’s movies. Many of Disney’s first animated movies where based on old fairytales. So we get this fight of good against evil already fed from when we are small children. And it is strange that we accept the constant fight as more realistic than normal human life, but have no problem accepting the unrealistic “they lived happily ever after”.

I find it disturbing that most films about the future are dystopian, as what we imagine, we will get in the end. Sometimes I even feel that we are being groomed to accept that the future will look like that.
