Chilly & Milly is an animated documentary exploring my father’s chronic health problems as a diabetic with kidney failure, and my mother’s role as his stalwart caretaker. Shot in miniature, it combines 3D modeled/composited characters with cinema verité scenes from a documentary I shot over 13 years ago.

It is a story of love and resiliency in the face of hardship, turmoil, and the encroaching death of a loved one.

The short film premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival, won the Jury Award at the 2022 PBS Short Film Festival, and won a Webby Award in 2024 for Best Art Direction.
