Why Do Supermarket Eggs Look Perfect?


When chickens lay eggs at a farm, their eggs get examined, tested, graded, and approved before they’re packaged up for us to buy at the supermarket. Is that why they look so perfect?

In this clip from Jimmy’s Food Factory, a science series from the BBC, Jimmy Doherty investigates how a company like Noble Foods in Edinburgh processes 1.2 million eggs a day, how people and machines work together to determine what eggs to keep, and what they do with the eggs that have been rejected.
