Bolsonaro Calls for End to Brazil Lockdown Despite Coronavirus Outbrea

Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has called for an end to “mass confinement” after criticising lockdown measures imposed by state governors to fight the coronavirus outbreak.

Saying that the virus “will soon pass”, he urged the reopening of businesses and schools.

Brazil has recorded over 2,200 confirmed cases of infection, with 46 deaths so far.

As incredible drone footage shows Rio de Janeiro’s famous beaches completely empty, a sports stadium in the city of São Paulo is being converted into a field hospital for COVID-19 patients.
