‘Inside-Out’ – 2 short films inherently linked and collectively working in tandem, as one essentially creates the other (i.e. the reflections and shadows on the wall in the first film ‘inside’ are created by the trees and sunlight filmed in the other film ‘out’). It is also a visual comment on and response to it being made in the week that we went into the second national lockdown – looking at the connections between inside and out in these strange times when we are being asked to stay inside for our safety and security, so our connection with nature and the outside world is restricted, but our desire, need and yearning for it heightened. The first film also touches on internal thoughts, anxieties and personal reflections accentuated by slight sound distortion, whilst the second is more open and free, collectively subtly referencing the ideas of Plato’s Cave.
