It seems like a simple question with a straightforward answer, but when you look at the total environmental impact of each type of bag, things start to get a little complicated.

Very interesting, I’ve often wondered about the effects of the different bags and processes, now I am even more confused but more educated!

It would be great if there was simple answers to these kinds of sustainability questions, but videos like this show how difficult it is going to be to have a sustainable society. If people don’t have a clear sustainable option, even if they do care about the environment it’s unclear how they’re even going to know what to do. There is definitely work to be done!

I agree. Especially as their answer seemed to be, “for now re-use your disposable plastic bag thousands of times” (I prefer fabric bags despite their apparent greater footprint, since I like to imagine they represent a living for those who make them)!
