BUILDING BOOM #25 MANCHESTER & SALFORD ALONG THE IRWELL | +Then & Now Views

In this video, 25 in the ‘Building Boom’ playlist, we travel along by the River Irwell in Salford and Manchester looking at the new construction, existing buildings and historic landmarks. There is extensive construction of new buildings. Some building sites are nearly completed, some in mid-construction and a few still in planning.

The most striking among them is Factory International, which is on the former Granada TV site overlooking the River Irwell. We also take a look at the River a little further upstream to discover a quiet, green area in the City of Salford just 800 yards from Manchester Cathedral.

It’s futuristic and historic at the same time, a ‘brave new world’ of city centre high-rise living.

The River Irwell now looks attractive as it meanders its way downstream before it becomes the Manchester Ship Canal by the old footbridge.
