It is not that surprising though. Polynesians also sailed to New Zealand and settled there. The Maori language is clearly Polynesian. From the Sunda Islands it is not that much further to Madagaskar than from let’s say Tahiti to New Zealand.

Exactly, they might fish on their way for food, but what about drinking water? There was not much room on those boats.
