We are currently trapped inside an observational bubble 93 billion light-years across. Every piece of matter we interact with and every beam of light we capture, is permanently anchored to a single, flat surface. For most of human history, we assumed this isolated floor was the absolute limit of existence.
The mathematics of modern physics within the framework of M-theory and brane cosmology show us that our specific universe is highly likely just one small structural piece of a grander geometry. The “bulk” is out there, fully active, filled with drifting parallel realities and the leaked gravity of countless unseen stars. We may never be able to physically step outside our three-dimensional boundary to look at it, but through careful mathematics and rigorous testing, we are finally mapping the larger room.
